How To Create A Vibrant Image Using Photoshop, by Webdesigner Depot
Webdesigner depot published a tutorial regarding how to create a vibrant image using Photoshop. It’s impressive how they’ve completely avoided using Illustriator and made good use of Photoshop’s features to create a futuristic-looking image.
The tutorial started off by using a free stock-image online, and basically the steps involved are pretty simple:
- Isolating the subject from the background by creating a vector mask – I like it that they’re using a vector mask (such that it’s scalable without losing any data)
- Adding a gradient in the background – I particularly love the colour scheme used, warm colours and great contrast.
- Making use of patterns and polygons to create shapes around the subject, complemented with speckles of debris.
- Some minor lighting effects, achievable through motion blurring and fiddling with the pen tool
- Overlaying a final texture – you can get a ton of them over at BittBox
It’s as easy as that! And within 30 minutes to an hour you’ll have a great, visually-impactful photo at your disposal. You can print it as a poster (make sure to convert it to CMYK mode though!), or use it as a wallpaper, ot even publish it on your website (and there’re many more ways to do it).
