And when the sky is falling, don’t look outside the window.
- Or the sky’ll fall on your head, I presume.

I guess I’ve been really unlucky lately - it feels exactly like streching your neck out of a window for fresh air and you just realised the sky has fallen on your head. Ouch.
No, not the stray dogs!
I didn’t understand how on earth did I provoke their wrath. Normally when I cycle past them (at some distance, of course - I didn’t want to get bitten!) they’ll usually just stare at me. Then in two separate incidents with two different packs of dogs, I found myself in the centre of attention.
Two days ago I was cycling past a plant nursery when raging waters of the huge monsoon drain caught my attention. I walked on a bridge to stare at the scene with great awe when I suddenly heard a muffled bark. I ignored the first one but when the second and third came along, I turned around to see 2 meanacing dogs staring at me. Knowing that running away will provoke their animalistic instinct of hunting down fast-moving preys, I walked slowly towards my bike, hopped on and peddled away like a madman. They gave chase! I was sweating all over my palms I couldn’t really hold on to the handles well, but luckily they stopped after the second junction because of the heavy traffic (and I nearly got ran over by a van).
Then yesterday when I was navigating through a tight turn with my bike, 5 (yes, freaking five!!!) dogs started running towards me from the blind corner, one (I presume it’s the, urm, alpha male dog) tired to actaully leap onto my bike. I was so terrified! I felt the hair on my neck all stood up, and my leg going soft and feeling wobbly from fear. What if I get bitten? It’ll be nasty. I nearly went into imaging how it feels to have sharp canine teeth tearing and ripping through my meat. Yucks!
Braces don’t only cut your cheeks, sweetie
I know those wires jutting out from both ends of the braces will cut your cheeks, but I never thought they’ll cut your fingers like sharp edges of the paper as well. I was cleaning my braces yesterday night after dinner, starting from using my fingers to remove larger chunks of stuck veg and meat (well you’ll be grateful that I didn’t do it at the dining table, mom! I did it in the toilet…), when the sharp end of the wire cut through my index finger like paper. And yes it surely hurts, it felt exactly like a paper cut. Now I’m a little phobic about using my fingers now - I use a combination of two toothpicks to substitute for my fingers.
P.S. day two into the annual CSS Naked Day, I’m missing my stylesheet very badly!

I hate dogs lol I really do. My landlord brought his round the other day - I made him keep them in the car! nasty things. Least a cat can’t rip your head off.
hehe *strokes her css*

@Han:
That experience doesn’t make me hate all dogs - I just don’t like strays. I find them rather violent, probably driven by hunger. Oh and I don’t really like dogs that jump up to you to say hello (according to experienced dog trainers, this is their innate way of greeting you, but I feel uncomfortable about it).
Cats are definitely easier to hang around with because unless you step on their tails, they won’t leap onto you and scratch your face for nothing. And they don’t bark! Makes them quiet pets. But one problem is that they’re less attached to the owner - my grandma had a hard time toilet training her kittens.
And after the CSS Naked Day, I’m definitely going to pay homage to whoever who’ve created CSS. Omigod I wasn’t really in the mood to blog when I see my blog as a mess of text. Hah!

Haha! I think the lack of CSS is getting to me because all the unstyled blogs that I visit are starting to make me fidgety! Just joking!
Sorry to hear about the accident with your braces and the incident involving those dogs. Regarding the braces, yes it’s a battle that you may have to face constantly until your braces are off. I had countless cuts while I had my braces. You’ll learn how to master the wires and avoid getting injured eventually. And it’s good to see that you are being careful with your dental hygiene.
And sorry (again!) to hear about the dogs! You know, I was hearing a sermon last last week (I think?) that dogs do not inherently attack humans, but only do so when provoked. Maybe they were freaked out suddenly by your bike and thought it was a signal to “attack”, or maybe they gained the impression that you were scared and biking away. Dogs can get mixed signals like that, methinks. Either way, I am glad that you’re updating this blog as a non-bitten Teddy.. albeit injured slightly by your braces.
Thanks for the music plug! I haven’t heard AAR in a while! =P

@Id:
No you’re not alome Id! I’m getting very uneasy as well! Being a perfectionist myself my unstyled blog is getting on my nerves today! I felt so unmotivated to write a post because everything looks so messed up. Now I know how precious CSS is!
My dentist taught me to use a spoon (or something metallic and hard and you don’t mind getting scratched by the wires) to bend the ends of the wires if necessary. I’ve heard of cuts in the mouth caused by braces… I’ve got a fair share of it during the first week. I have 3 ulcers that refuse to recover until I stuck those dental wax on the metal headgear.
Generally dogs do not attack humans unless we wonder into their terrirory. Like tigers and lions they don’t find Homo sapiens particularly tasty. Well for an ego buster, dogs think that chicken / pigeon / cat meat taste way better than ours. I think I accidentally stumbled into their territory for the second encounter. Yea I’m feeling very lucky for not getting bitten! Especially for the second encounter when the dog is literally an arm’s length away (about 1m or so).
AAR is one of my favourite bands so far
but I don’t particularly adore some of their songs - I find it a little too noisy, haha

hey, couz! always use toothpicks lah. if not, you can get that mini brush thingy from the orthodontist. that gadget does wonders! haha. anyway, i hope you’re getting used to the braces! they hurt, right… hehe. well, least you can go crazy with the colours every month (: and you’re gonna have an awesome smile at the end of the process

@allie:
I only use it to clean those sections between the braces and my teeth. For larger chunks of food that got stuck I try to gargle them out, but if that fails I’ll usually use my fingers. Now I won’t!
I got that mini brush
They hurt when the dentist mercilessly tightens the screw, but after a few days it’s feels nothing much than just a small numb pain when you bite on something really hard (my dad is force-feeding me pears - the hard ones - because he says if I don’t I’ll get constipation. Haha!).

I starting missing my stylesheet as well! Sure it was easy to read, but it looked ugly. lol. It was interesting though!
I used to cut my tongue with my braces all the time, when I was trying to lick the food out of my teeth.

Hmm… I wonder what’s up with those dogs. Did you have a BBQ with that shirt you’re wearing? Sometimes animals can sense fear and will react to you too. But the way the dogs were reacting is strange.

@letti: Thanks for the advice! Well my first reaction to that cut is to scream a little, then to suck that injured digit
I read on some magazine that there’s this compound in saliva that helps to stop bleeding. Mmm. Anyway I did apply some antiseptic scream and slapped on a plaster. Now it’s fine, thanks!
@Brandy: Hell yea I dould’nt agree more with you Brandy! Although my site loads a lot faster without the stylesheet, it looks a lot uglier! I can’t bear to see my blog in a total mess without CSS. Now I’m loving CSS to bits! Oh and I just had a cut on my tongue today! It’s a small cut, and I realised after lunch that it has blossomed into a fancy ulcer… pffft
@Ivy: Maybe! I was eating honey-glazed chicken before I went cycling that day. Perhaps it’s the honey that made them hungry. But for the other evening I didn’t even snack in the afternoon, I didn’t know how the hell did I make them mad. Gee. Now I’ll just have to cycle on the road more travelled

i actually have this huge phobia of dogs.. i don’t what it is called.. i’m also suffering from coulrophobia (another huge fear of CLOWNS!! clowns really freak me out. Since i’m a little kid, i always avoid going to amusement parks with clowns entertaining the park visitors. Gosh, clowns are really scary.) The second I see a dog, I will jump here and there or shout for help.. this may sound funny but i really hate dogs.. yea, paper cuts are really bothering.. especially when i’m doing my homeworks given by the teachers..

Being chased by a lot of dogs must be horrible!! I could picture how were you feeling cause I’ve been through the same thing, but i can say yours is definitely worse than mine. Luckily you were cycling, and not walking! Thank god for that hahaha. Oh btw u only dig ur teeth in the toilet n tts very polite for u. I’m not that polite la hahahaha cause i practically dig everywhere cause i couldn’t stand it, especially when you’re outside!! Talking with a green or red thing stucked on ur braces.
But then again, i did cover a little la.
So how’s ur braces going? Got used to it already?? I just took out mine, definitely feels alot weirder and retainer is undoubtedly worse than braces.
ps: This is so cool!!! i can edit my comment and add in after this.
