It’s Feeding Time!

Last Monday (our school had an off in-lieu because of the Hari Raya celebrations that happened to fall on the weekend) my friends and I set off to Bukit Timah Market in search for yummy-licious hawker food! For this time we’re not outta hunt for fine food but just tasty food - any food that makes it to this mark will be eaten! So we decided to head for Bukit Timah Market since the food there is famous to be affordable and delicious, not to forget the very unique ambience of eating in a crowded area.

Almost the same people went - Jeffrey, Zhibang, Pow and me. This time Hsien didn’t manage to come with us because he’ve got some wrinkles to iron out back there. Anyway, I should start throwing you some photos now!

Katong Laksa

Pow ordered Katong Laksa! Mmmph it’s really tasty, I love the creamy taste of the soup. Being half a Penangite (it means that half of me is from Penang, Malaysia. My mom gave me her Penang genes!) I thought Katong Lakso should, by right, taste the same as the famous Penang Laksa… but it surprised me when I first ate it (it was like a few years ago) because it’ve got that irresistable creamy taste. Obviously the way Katong Laksa is prepared is different from that of Penang Laksa, but I still love it! The noodles are trimmed, such that you can eat without a chopstick - just use your spoon and start scooping! Jeffrey explained to me that Katong Laksa was initially served in smaller portions, in smaller bowls so the hawkers cut up the noodles to make life easier for their customers. Wow, that’s one great idea!

Japanese Fried Rice

Zhibang ordered Japanese Fried Rice! Okay on the surface it looks to be nothing different from the normal fried rice but when you eat it you realise that it’ve got that unique taste! I don’t really know how to describe it but it taste so… Japanese!!! haha! Pow joked that because they used a lot of ajinomoto (the famous Japanese-made monosodium glutame, a flavouring agent used to make food taste better), so by right it should taste like Japanese food! LOL, no offence but it’s just a joke :) heh.

Fried Noodles

I ordered Fried Noodles, a.k.a. Char Kuay Teow. I’ve ordered the one that contains scallop because I love it, although it is widely known to be unhealthy because it may give you hepatitis of it’s not cleaned properly. However the dish needs to be fried with scallop to give it its unique aroma! Mmmph! Anyway by now everyone should’ve gotten their hepatitis jabs (vaccine), so yep there’s generally no problem eating it!

Jeffrey ordered some dish which I forgot its name and to make it worse, I forgot to take a photo of it (bangs head against wall). Okay I shall try not to be so forgetful next time  hehe.

On our way back we dropped by Sixth Avenue, and headed for Coffee Bean. We got caught in the rain as we walked from the Dunearn Road bus stop, but we heck it for the delicious aroma of coffee beans! Muahaha! This is Pow with the different cakes we’ve ordered!

@ Coffee Bean

Zhibang ordered Chicago Cheese Cake, Jeffrey bought their Raspberry Cheescake. And in case you’re wondering what’s that tiny piece of cake staring at you in the photo… yes, I’ve bought Coffee Bean’s mudpie again! *evil laughs* Pow and I both fell for the same cake :)

Mudpie, again!

Mmmmph doesn’t it look tantalisingly close to you and yet impossible to be reached? Nothing can ever be better than eating a mudpie when it’s raining like cats and dogs outside!
