I’ve made a trip to my aunt’s little paradise! Her home is a 20-minute drive away from mine and is located in a quaint, picturesque gated community
very lovely! My grandma was visiting and she wanted to stay over at my aunt’s house (which she shares with my grandaunt), and I immediately jumped on the chance for a visit. Since there is quite a number of rather huge photos and it’s unfair to let people with slower connection to wait, I’ve tucked everything else under the readmore tag.
The panorama above looks a littke cranky in the middle (especially the top) because of the heavy curvature - Autostitch can’t handle too much of it.
Anyway, my aunt does keep a blog, but it’s in Chinese.
P.S. To my regular commentators, I’m sorry that I’m unable to leave comments at your blogs lately because I’m overwhelmed with university application. Will return to normal in a few days, thanks for your patience!
Her Garden
My aunt’s home is actually a split-level one - each successive floors are half-floor apart. The front has two floors while the back has another three, connected with stairs. My aunt has a green thumb - she’s very good at gardening and has pots of plants meticulously positioned in her frontyard. She keeps her lovely little water lettuce in a pot:

Oh, and she keeps air plants as well! They’re neatly arranged on the shoe rack in her porch. The Welcome sign is just so adorable, isn’t it?

Interior Decor
My aunt never ever fail to impress me with her taste for interior decoration! She lives in a home I deem as dreamy
if I have the chance to move it, I’ll definitely grab it! She has a love for IKEA furnitures, which I’m so impressed about because I personally adore IKEA’s products - they’re elegant and minimalistic, and don’t look horribly extravagant.

Her dining area is one of the best part of her house! Look at how the glass table matches the glass doors and windows in the background - and she uses a lot of natural lighting as well. By merely imagining myself dining in that room makes me tremble with excitement.
Quaint Neighbourhood
She lives in a gated community, means that anybody who wishes to get in has to get pass the guards first. And the guards are so friendly when they know you personally (we’ve been there a few times and they’ve been very helpful and courteous).
Most importantly, they have this cute little infinity pool right at the heart of the neighbourhood! Since I went there on weekdays, there wasn’t any single one around the pool and I have it all to myself! Woots
Here’s a HDR of the pool, click it for the original file which opens up in the nifty lightbox (there’s a Wordpress plugin for it as well).
I was too lazy to take seven photos to merge into one HDR, so I took three instead. Too bad I use a consumer-grade camera which doesn’t have auto exposure bracketing. If you want to know more about creating your own HDR, you can visit my tutorial (or Google it if you prefer others).

And here’s a panorama of the infinity pool. It’s heavily shrunk to fit in the post container, so if you want to see it in a larger size, click on the image.
Panorama is stitched together from three separate images using Autostitch.

Finally, a HDR and panorama combo to end this post
it’s one of the very few HDR panorama I’ve posted so far because making it is pretty tedious. Note - this panorama is different from the above (quite obvious from the camera’s perspective). Click on the image to view the larger version.
This wraps up my trip to my aunt’s little paradise!

As an Interior Designer, I happy perused through the photos. I really like the credeneza (?) with the mirror and the bowls. (And I did recognise the bowls from IKEA.. actually I have them myself but I use them to eat. Hahah!) That’s gotta be my favourite. Your aunt really does have a little paradise in her home. =D
Good luck with the university applications. School takes precedence, so I fully understand. =)

Good grief! Hello, grammatical error! I was meant to say: “As an Interior Designer, I HAPPILY perused through the photos.” My bad. I think I’m not yet awake!
Take care! =D

Hey Id thanks for the comment! Well I get tons of gramatical errors all the time, so no worries, heh. Thanks for teaching me a new word Credenza - according to Wikipedia (I think I’m getting over-reliant on it!), it is “a type of sideboard used in domestic or restaurant situations”. Woah, I never knew there’s a name to it! I used to call it cupboards back them, lol!
I adore IKEA furnitures, they’re really nice and thoughtfully designed. And lucky you, there’s two IKEA outlets in Singapore… and only a miseralbe one in Malaysia!

Nice pictures.
you took all those with a consumer grade camera? Then maybe I can try taking some myself some day.
My uncle is a IKEA member. Want anything, just go IKEA and get discounts. I like IKEA furnitures too, simple yet elegant

I would buy the place in a split second if i saw your pictures on the brochure, Teddy. I especially love the striking red brick feature.

eddy: Thank you! The infinity pool is actually shared by the entire neighbourhood.
letti: Her house is gorgeous, I must agree
momo: As far as I know, my aunt is a big fan of gardening! I really love her frontyard - green and organised. I don’t quite like it when homeowners crowd their gardens with too much vegetation and make it look like a jungle being rampaged by a tornado. I love shopping at IKEA too! They have those pseudo-displays and you can get inspired if you’re into interior design.
Yappy: Yep, it’s taken with a Pentax Optio S55 camera. It’s so cool to have a relative working at IKEA! I will actually die for a job at IKEA
thecoffeesnob: That’s probably what I will do too! The house is a split-level home (although inconvenient, but very modern) and it’s quite huge inside! One bad thing though - the neighbourhood is located pretty far away from downtown and you get traffic jams all the time.
ophelia: Thank you!

If the community ever wanted to sell more divisions of land or property, you’ve already established their greatness with these photographs. It looks amazing and reminds me so much of Barbados..I just love red terracotta! I just generally love deep reds and bright blues! Wow, she’s so lucky to live there everyday and you’re so luck to get to visit her! It looks like it was so much fun there, especially the pool!

Wow now that looks like an awesome place to live or.. visit. I really like your photography and its nice knowing theres another person out there that DOESNT have a $15k hasselblad and just has a regular (or not so regular) camera. I really dont think photography fully depends on the camera personally. I think it has to do with the person behind the camera.
Great pics. Ill def come back for more!
Oh btw in case you cared lol I have an Olympus SP 510 UZ and it has done wonders for me. Its my first cam, Ive had it for about a year and a half, and my photos just keep getting better and better
Have a good week!
